The position is responsible for overseeing all fiscal, fiduciary, and technologies systems within the organization and ensuring the efficient operation of all physical facilities. An advisor to the president, board of directors, and the finance and audit committees.
The Vice President Finance and Administration is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the organization, to include the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve organization assets and report accurate financial results. The Vice President Finance and Administration is responsible for the financial management of the organization to include budget analysis and management, financial modeling and reporting, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, accounting, and investment strategies.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Finance & Accounting
- Direct and oversee the organization’s financial plans, financial operations and accounting practices based on generally accepted accounting principles; ensure transparent financial information and ethical behavior standards; advise staff on organization’s financial policies and procedures.
- Lead, mentor and develop a high performing finance team of two.
- Develop and implement goals, policies and procedures related to all financial and accounting functions, including but not limited to, financial accounting and reporting, budgeting, cash management, external audits and payroll.
- Serve as primary contact with independent audit firm, for annual audit, and prepare documents required for the 990-tax return.
- Work closely with the President/CEO and Board of Directors as it pertains to the Finance Committee of the Board.
- Manage the organization’s cash flow and forecasting and oversee the financial portion of
- Capital projects.
- Oversee the agency’s payroll processes and conduct audits to ensure effective processes and accurate reporting.

Information Technology and Facilities
- Ensure high-quality data governance, data security, and data integrity within agency systems.
- Work with an outsourced IT team of professionals.
- Protect all confidential information, including donors, clients, animals and internal communications.
- Oversee the strategic planning, operation, and maintenance of physical assets, including office buildings, warehouses, and other properties.
- Ensure facilities are compliant with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage space utilization, leasing, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop and implement policies related to facility operations and security.
- Lead the procurement of facility services and negotiate high level contracts with vendors and service providers.
- Lead, mentor and develop a high performing facilities team of five.
